Amadeo Rodríguez Magro (born March 12, 1946 in San Jorge de Alor ) is a Spanish clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Jaén .

Life

Amadeo Rodríguez Magro received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Badajoz on June 14, 1970 . After working in pastoral care and as a religious teacher, he studied at the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome from 1983 to 1986 and obtained a licentiate in educational science ( catechetics ).

In the Diocese of Badajoz he was director of the catechetical office and episcopal vicar for evangelism. He taught as a professor at the Diocesan Seminary and as an associate professor at the Faculty of Education at the University of Extremadura . He was also general secretary of the diocesan synod. After the diocese was elevated to the Archdiocese of Mérida-Badajoz , he was secretary of the ecclesiastical province. He was appointed canon , was dean of the cathedral chapter and vicar general of the archbishopric.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Plasencia on July 3, 2003 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Spain and Andorra , Archbishop Manuel Monteiro de Castro , donated him episcopal ordination on August 31 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Antonio Montero Moreno , Archbishop of Mérida-Badajoz , and Carlos López Hernández , Bishop of Salamanca . As a motto he chose Parare Vias Domini .

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Jaén on April 9, 2016 . On May 21, 2016, he took possession of the diocese of Jaén.
