Michael Pfeiffer
Michael "Michel" Pfeiffer (born July 19, 1925 in Eschweiler ; † January 2, 2018 in Vaals , Netherlands ) was a German football player and coach .
Life
He started his football career at home SG Eschweiler before joining Alemannia Aachen in 1949 . There he made it to the national team in December 1954 , when he made his international debut at Wembley in front of 100,000 spectators against England . This should be his only full international match. Pfeiffer was the second national player of Aachen after Reinhold Münzenberg . Pfeiffer played a total of 244 championship games for Alemannia in nine years, in which he scored 75 goals.
After his time in Aachen, he continued his career at Rot-Weiss Essen (1958–1961) and Fortuna Geleen (1961–1963). After the end of his career he became a coach. He looked after Alemannia Aachen from the beginning of 1967 to 1969, where Pfeiffer was promoted to the first division straight away and was runner-up behind Bayern Munich in the second year. After that, his contract was not renewed and the club was relegated the following year. Pfeiffer looked after the club a second time in 1973/74 in the Regionalliga West, he led the Alemannia in the newly founded Second Bundesliga, but was dismissed in September 1974. He also trained Roda Kerkrade (1963-1965), FK Pirmasens (1970/71), Austria Salzburg (1972), BSV Schwenningen (1976/77) and the Tunisian club CS Sfax (1980/81). There he became Tunisian champion straight away with the club. Then he ended his coaching career.
Pfeiffer lived in Vaals in the Netherlands . He was married and had at least two children.
