Werner Schieder

Werner Schieder (born September 13, 1948 in Ellenbach, municipality of Floß, district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab ) is a German politician of the SPD . He was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament from 1990 to 2008 and the German Bundestag from 2009 to 2013.

Life and politics

Werner Schieder attended business school and completed his secondary school leaving certificate there. This was followed by an apprenticeship in the higher service of the financial administration. Later he graduated from the civil service college . Before his mandate in the state parliament, he worked as a clerk at the regional tax office and in various tax offices. He was also active as a staff council. He is married, a Protestant and has two children.

Schieder joined the SPD in 1976 and was a member of the city council of Weiden in Upper Palatinate from 2002 to 2008 and, since 1992, deputy chairman of the Upper Palatinate SPD district association. The tax expert was elected to the Bavarian state parliament for the first time in 1990 and was a member of the committee for state finances and budgetary issues. He was no longer available for election to the state parliament in Bavaria in 2008 .

On September 27, 2009, he was elected to the German Bundestag via the Bavarian State List , to which he was a member until 2013 (17th electoral term).

In addition to political party work, he is active in various areas. As a trade unionist, he had been a member of ÖTV since 1968, where he held various positions. Today he is still active in the ver.di union.
