Ellenbach is part of the Floß market in the Upper Palatinate district in the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district .

Geographical location

Ellenbach is about three kilometers north of Floß on State Road 2181 . To the east of Ellenbach there is an extensive forest area, the Wildenauer Wald and the Steinbruck. On its western edge there is a mountain range that surrounds Ellenbach from the east. From north to south: Kohlbühl (568 m), Tannenbühl (605 m), Haustein (617 m), Greil (593 m) and Geierholz (554 m).

history

13th and 14th centuries

They first recorded mention of Ellenbach (also: Erlbach, Elhenpach, Elhenbach, Ellenpach, Ellnpach) dates back to 1261. In a document confirming Ludwig Count Palatine of the Rhine and Duke of Bavaria the Abbot John of the monastery Waldsassen the patronage right on Erlbach (= Ellenbach ), Uelsenreuth (= Ilsenbach) and Geizen (= Gosen) and the tithe in Slattin (= Schlattein).

Ellenbach was listed in the Lower Bavarian Salbuch . Heinrich Wildenawer was named as the owner of 6 farms in Ellenbach. This Salbuch comes from the period between 1269 and 1320. Ellenbach was also mentioned in the Bohemian Salbüchlein . 7 farms were recorded for Ellenbach, which together had to pay 30 cheeses and 300 eggs each year. 15th and 16th centuries

Ellenbach was recorded in the Salbuch from 1416/1440. The following 4 farming families in Ellenbach were named: Vlerich, Pogner, the Hannßen's son, Hennßel Per. A barren farm was also mentioned. In 1546, Kraft von Vestenburg sold the village of Ellenbach with five farms to the citizen Veit Löbel from Neustadt an der Waldnaab.

17th century

During the Thirty Years War in 1620 and 1621 the Mansfeld soldiers marched through Ellenbach. They robbed the farmers of money, cattle, grain, food, clothing, linen, beds, copper pans and pots, tools, weapons, etc., fished the ponds, and burned and destroyed the farms. A list of damages for Ellenbach from 1621 showed a total of 729 guilders and 35 cruisers.

In 1650 the hereditary homage to Count Palatinate of Palatinate-Sulzbach Christian August took place in the courtyard of the Friedrichsburg in Vohenstrauss . Ellenbach appears on the tribute list with the 5 farm owners: Georg Keckh, Andres Volladt, Michael Riebl, Georg Biehler, Martin Weiß.

In 1652 Ellenbach is described with 5 farms. Its inhabitants at that time were 5 farmers, namely 4 married couples, 1 widow and 20 children. The cattle consisted of 12 oxen, 10 cows, 14 young cattle, 6 pigs and 3 sheep.

18th century

A description by the Princely Nursing Office Floßerbürg from 1704 recorded 5 teams, 5 farms for Ellenbach.

In a historical-statistical description of the Floß nursing office from 1794, 5 farmers, 1 cottage worker, 1 day laborer, 1 shepherd, a total of 61 residents were listed for Ellenbach.

By 1800 Ellenbach had 7 houses and 54 residents.

19th century to the present

Ellenbach belonged to the tax district and the Schlattein rural community , which had been formed at the beginning of the 19th century. In addition to Schlattein, the hamlet of Ellenbach also belonged to the Schlattein tax district. The Schlattein tax district had a total of 186 residents and 27 residential buildings. The immediate rural community Schlattein consisted of the villages Kalmreuth and Schlattein, the hamlets Auerberg and Ellenbach and the wasteland Geiermühle.

The village of Ellenbach had 62 inhabitants and 7 residential buildings in 1817, 51 inhabitants in 1861 and 28 inhabitants and 5 residential buildings in 1961. On January 1, 1972, the municipality of Schlattein and with it Ellenbach was incorporated into the Floß market.
