Gailertsreuth is about three kilometers northwest of Floß on both sides of the Floß .

15th and 16th centuries
Gailertsreuth (also: Gecheltzreuth, Gechelzreuth, Gehelz Reut, Gehelzryet) was listed in the Salbuch from 1416/1440 as a Vogtei . The following 8 farming families in Gailertsreuth were named: Eli Mynner, Rierel Mynner, Jacob Biber, Hannßel Biber, Heroldt, Müllner, Hartel Hannßel, Haintz. 6 of them had to grant Nachzill , the other 2 only 1/2 Nachzill. The annual fees for all 8 farms together amounted to 6 eight liters of oats, 13 cheese, 163 eggs, 7 chickens.

17th century
During the Thirty Years War in 1620 and 1621, the Mansfeld soldiers marched through Gailertsreuth. They robbed the farmers of 5 horses, 2 sheep, 1 young ox and fished 4 ponds. A list of damages for Gailertsreuth from 1621 showed a total of 121 guilders.
Up until the Thirty Years War there was a mill on Schwarzenbach auf der Öd, which was rebuilt after a fire in Gailertsreuth am Floßbach. Their former owners were called Hutzler, after which this mill was also called Hutzlmühle.
In 1650 the hereditary homage to Count Palatinate of Palatinate-Sulzbach Christian August took place in the courtyard of the Friedrichsburg in Vohenstrauss . Gailertsreuth appears on the tribute list together with Niedernfloß with 12 farm owners.
In 1652 Gailertsreuth is described as having 5 farms, a half farm, a Gütl and a mill. Its inhabitants at that time were 8 married couples, 21 underage children, 2 adult children. The cattle consisted of 2 horses, 16 oxen, 9 cows, 2 young cattle, 12 pigs, 14 sheep.
18th century
A description by the Princely Nursing Office Floßerbürg from 1704 recorded 8 teams, 3 rear seats , 5 farms, 1 half farm, 1 estate, 1 mill for Gailertsreuth .
In a historical-statistical description of the Floß maintenance office from 1794, 7 farmers, 1 miller, 1 shepherd, a total of 74 inhabitants were listed for Gailertsreuth.
Around 1800 Gailertsreuth had 10 houses and 73 inhabitants and a mill with 2 grinding courses.
19th century to the present
At the beginning of the 19th century, Gailertsreuth became a tax district and, at the same time, a rural community . In addition to Gailertsreuth and its mill, the hamlets of Niedernfloß and Oberndorf and the wastelands of Meierhof and Würnreuth also belonged to the Gailertsreuth tax district. The tax district Gailertsreuth had a total of 184 inhabitants and 29 residential buildings.
The immediate rural community of Gailertsreuth initially consisted of the hamlets of Gailertsreuth, Niedernfloß and Oberndorf, the deserted Gollwitzerhof, Meierhof and Würnreuth. From 1946 the community of Diepoltsreuth was added with the hamlets of Diepoltsreuth and Ritzlersreuth and the wastelands Schnepfenhof and Schönberg.
The village of Gailertsreuth had 79 inhabitants and 10 residential buildings in 1817, 89 inhabitants in 1861 and 43 inhabitants and 8 residential buildings in 1961. On January 1, 1972, the community of Gailertsreuth was incorporated into the Floß market.
