Würnreuth is part of the Floß market in the Upper Palatinate district in the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district .

Geographical location

Würnreuth is about two kilometers west of Floß on the state road 2395 from Floß to Störnstein . Würnreuth lies between the 501 meter high Wiedenbühl in the west and the 544 meter high Buch in the east.

history

13th to 16th centuries

Würnreuth (also: Wernreut, Wiernried, Bernrewt, Warmreuth, Warenreuth, Warnreuth, Warenreut, Warnreut) was listed in the Lower Bavarian Salbuch . Its residents had to pay 6 mutt grain (rye) and 4 1/2 mutt oat taxes annually. This Salbuch comes from the period between 1269 and 1320. The following localities belonging to Floß were named in this directory: Bergnetsreuth, Boxdorf, Diepoltsreuth, Ellenbach, Gösen, Grafenreuth, Hardt, Haupertsreuth, Kalmreuth, Niedernfloß, Oberndorf, Pauschendorf, Ritzlersreuth, Schlattein, Schönberg, Weikersmühle, Welsenhof, Würnreuth, Würzelbrunn.

Würnreuth was also mentioned in the Bohemian Salbüchlein . Its residents had to pay 6 mutt grain, 4 mutt oats and 3 eight liters of wheat a year. The Böhmisches Salbüchlein contained records from the period from 1366 to 1373 for all the places that were mentioned in the Lower Bavarian Salbuch cited above and also Plankenhammer as hamer zu Mekenhofen .

17th century

During the Thirty Years' War in 1620 and 1621 the Mansfeld soldiers marched through Würnreuth. They robbed the farmers of 15 guilders, 15 cows, 5 heifers, 4 oxen, 4 lambs, 2 goats, poultry, clothes, 2 tablecloths and 3 copper pots. 2 ponds were dug up and fished, 2 windows were broken. A list of damages for Würnreuth from 1621 showed a total of 246 guilders and 45 cruisers.

In 1650 the hereditary homage to Count Palatinate of Palatinate-Sulzbach Christian August took place in the courtyard of the Friedrichsburg in Vohenstrauss . Würnreuth appears on the list of homage with the 2 farm owners: Hannß Kraus, Georg Seits.

In 1652 Würnreuth is described as having two farms. Its inhabitants at that time were 1 widower, 1 widow with 4 minor children and 4 adult children. The cattle consisted of 3 oxen, 3 cows, 7 young cattle, 4 pigs and 8 sheep.

18th century to the present

A description of the Princely Nursing Office Floßerbürg from 1704 recorded 2 teams, 2 farms for Würnreuth.

In a historical-statistical description of the Floß care office from 1794, 2 farmers, 1 shepherd, a total of 24 residents were listed for Würnreuth.

Around 1800 Würnreuth had 3 houses and 18 residents.

Würnreuth belonged to the tax district Gailertsreuth founded at the beginning of the 19th century, which was also a rural community . In addition to Gailertsreuth and its mill, the hamlets of Niedernfloß and Oberndorf and the wastelands of Meierhof and Würnreuth also belonged to the Gailertsreuth tax district. The tax district Gailertsreuth had a total of 184 inhabitants and 29 residential buildings.

The immediate rural community of Gailertsreuth initially consisted of the hamlets of Gailertsreuth, Niedernfloß and Oberndorf, the deserted Gollwitzerhof, Meierhof and Würnreuth. From 1946 the community of Diepoltsreuth was added with the hamlets of Diepoltsreuth and Ritzlersreuth and the wastelands Schnepfenhof and Schönberg.

The village of Würnreuth had 20 inhabitants and 3 residential buildings in 1817, 28 inhabitants in 1861 and 13 inhabitants and 2 residential buildings in 1961. On January 1, 1972, the community of Gailertsreuth and with it Würnreuth was incorporated into the Floß market.
