Geiermühle is part of the Floß market in the Upper Palatinate district in the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district .

Geographical location

Geiermühle is located about three kilometers north of Floß am Schwarzenbach, on the northwest slope of Geierholz and on State Road 2181 . To the east of Geiermühle there is an extensive forest area, the Wildenauer Forest and the Steinbruck. On its western edge there is a mountain range that surrounds Geiermühle from the east. From north to south: Kohlbühl (568 m), Tannenbühl (605 m), Haustein (617 m), Greil (593 m) and Geierholz (554 m).

The Geiermühle mill was listed as part of Kalmreuth in estate descriptions from 1799 and 1800.

Around 1800 the Geiermühle had 1 houses and 5 residents. She was a mill with a milling operation . Its owner was the Landsassengut Kalmreuth, Christian von Podewils.

Geiermühle belonged to the Kalmreuth tax district formed at the beginning of the 19th century . The Kalmreuth tax district had a total of 108 residents and 18 residential buildings.

Geiermühle belonged to the Schlattein rural community , which was formed at the beginning of the 19th century. The immediate rural community Schlattein consisted of the villages Kalmreuth and Schlattein, the hamlets Auerberg and Ellenbach and the wasteland Geiermühle.

The village Geiermühle had 5 inhabitants and 1 residential building in 1817, 6 inhabitants in 1861 and 4 inhabitants and 1 residential building in 1961. On January 1, 1972, the municipality of Schlattein and with it Geiermühle was incorporated into the Floß market.
