Niedernfloß is part of the Floß market in the Upper Palatinate district in the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district .

Geographical location

Niedernfloß is about a kilometer northwest of Floß on the north bank of the Floß between the 498 meter high altitude in the west and the 501 meter high Geißbühl in the east.

history

13th and 14th centuries

Niedernflozz (also: Nidernflozz, Nidern Flozz, Nidern Floß, Nydern Floß, Niedernn Flos) was listed in the Lower Bavarian Salbuch . Niedernfloß had to pay 3½ mutt grain (rye), 4½ mutt oat taxes every year . This Salbuch comes from the period between 1269 and 1320. The following localities belonging to Floß were named in this directory: Bergnetsreuth, Boxdorf, Diepoltsreuth, Ellenbach, Gösen, Grafenreuth, Hardt, Haupertsreuth, Kalmreuth, Niedernfloß, Oberndorf, Pauschendorf, Ritzlersreuth, Schlattein, Schönberg, Weikersmühle, Welsenhof, Würnreuth, Würzelbrunn.

Niedernfloß was also called in the Bohemian Salbüchlein . Niedernfloß had to pay 6 mutt grain (rye), 9 mutt oats and 3 eight liters of wheat a year. The Böhmisches Salbüchlein contained records from the period from 1366 to 1373 for all the places that were mentioned in the Lower Bavarian Salbuch cited above and also Plankenhammer as hamer zu Mekenhofen .

15th century

Niedernfloß is recorded in the Salbuch from 1416/1440. The following 4 farming families in Niedernfloß were named: Hännßel Neuwbauwr, Nickchel Zanner, Hannßel Zanner, Brueder (also: Prudrer). All four farmers had to provide Nachzill . The annual taxes for all 4 farms together amounted to 3 mutt grain, 1½ eight liters of wheat, 10 mutt oats, 7 cheese, 91 eggs, 4 chickens.

This Salbuch, with information about the localities belonging to Floß, dates from 1416 to 1440. The following localities belonging to Floß appeared in it, as in the two older Salbuch: Bergnetsreuth, Boxdorf, Diepoltsreuth, Ellenbach, Gosen, Grafenreuth, Hardt, Haupertsreuth , Niedernfloß, Oberndorf, pack village, Ritzlersreuth, Schlattein, Schönberg, Welsenhof, Würnreuth, Würzelbrunn. Missing: Kalmreuth, Plankenhammer, Weikersmühle. There were also: Fehrsdorf, Gailertsreuth, Konradsreuth, Meierhof, Wilkershof.

16th and 17th centuries

The following localities belonging to Floß were listed in a list of the teams from around 1559: Bergnetsreuth, Boxdorf, Diebersreuth, Diepoltsreuth, Ellenbach, Fehrsdorf, Gailertsreuth, Gosen, Grafenreuth, Hardt, Haupertsreuth, Höfen, Konradsreuth, Meierhof, Niedernfloß, Oberndorf, Package village, Plankenhammer, Ritzlersreuth, Schnepfenhof, Schönberg, Steinfrankenreuth, Weikersmühle, Welsenhof, Wilkershof, Würnreuth, Würzelbrunn. 4 teams were recorded for Niedernfloß: Mathes Höfler, Bartl Presll, Bartolomeus Schreyber, Bartlmes Lintner.

In 1650 the hereditary homage to Count Palatinate of Palatinate-Sulzbach Christian August took place in the courtyard of the Friedrichsburg in Vohenstrauss . Niedernfloß appears on the tribute list together with Gailertsreuth with 12 farm owners.

In 1652, Niedernfloß is described as having 3 courtyards, one half courtyard. Its inhabitants at that time were 4 married couples, 9 children. The cattle consisted of 8 oxen, 5 cows, 18 young cattle, 9 pigs and 6 sheep.

18th century to the present

A description by the Princely Nursing Office Floßerbürg from 1704 recorded 4 teams, 3 farms, 1 half farm for Niedernfloß.

In a historical-statistical description of the Floß maintenance office from 1794, 4 farmers, 1 shepherd and a total of 40 residents were listed for Niedernfloß.

By 1800 Niedernfloß had 5 houses and 31 residents.

Niedernfloß belonged to the Gailertsreuth tax district, which was founded in the early 19th century and was also a rural community . In addition to Gailertsreuth and its mill, the hamlets of Niedernfloß and Oberndorf and the wastelands of Meierhof and Würnreuth also belonged to the Gailertsreuth tax district. The tax district Gailertsreuth had a total of 184 inhabitants and 29 residential buildings.

The immediate rural community of Gailertsreuth initially consisted of the hamlets of Gailertsreuth, Niedernfloß and Oberndorf, the deserted Gollwitzerhof, Meierhof and Würnreuth. From 1946 the community of Diepoltsreuth was added with the hamlets of Diepoltsreuth and Ritzlersreuth and the wastelands Schnepfenhof and Schönberg.

The village of Niedernfloß had 42 inhabitants and 10 residential buildings in 1817, 40 inhabitants in 1861 and 22 inhabitants and 4 residential buildings in 1961. On January 1, 1972, the community of Gailertsreuth and thus also Niedernfloß was incorporated into the Floß market.
