Geographical location

Schönberg is about three kilometers west of Floß on the state road 2395 from Floß to Störnstein .

history

13th and 14th centuries

Schönberg (also: Schonnberch, Schönperg, Schonberg, Schonnpergk) was listed in the Lower Bavarian Salbuch . Its residents had to pay 6 mutt grain (rye) and 5 mutt oat taxes annually. This Salbuch comes from the period between 1269 and 1320. The following localities belonging to Floß were named in this directory: Bergnetsreuth, Boxdorf, Diepoltsreuth, Ellenbach, Gösen, Grafenreuth, Hardt, Haupertsreuth, Kalmreuth, Niedernfloß, Oberndorf, Pauschendorf, Ritzlersreuth, Schlattein, Schönberg, Weikersmühle, Welsenhof, Würnreuth, Würzelbrunn.

Schönberg was also mentioned in the Bohemian Salbüchlein . Its residents had to pay 6 mutt grain, 5 mutt oats and 3 eight liters of wheat a year. The Böhmisches Salbüchlein contained records from the period from 1366 to 1373 for all the places that were mentioned in the Lower Bavarian Salbuch cited above and also Plankenhammer as hamer zu Mekenhofen .

Schönberg is listed in the Salbuch from 1416/1440 as a bailiwick . The following 2 farming families in Schönberg were named: Hannß Roth, Kainz Merolt. Both farmers had to provide Nachzill . A team was recorded for Schönberg: Georg Wiedmann.

In 1650 the hereditary homage to Count Palatinate of Palatinate-Sulzbach Christian August took place in the courtyard of the Friedrichsburg in Vohenstrauss . Schönberg appears on the tribute list with a farm owner: Georg Tropmann.

In 1652 Schönberg was described as having a courtyard. Its residents at that time were a married couple with 5 children. The cattle consisted of 4 oxen, 3 cows, 5 young cattle, 4 pigs and 30 sheep.

18th century to the present

In a historical-statistical description of the Floß maintenance office from 1794, 1 farmer, 1 shepherd, a total of 18 residents were listed for Schönberg.

Around 1800 Schönberg had two houses and 16 residents.

Schönberg belonged to the Diepoltsreuth tax district, which was founded in the early 19th century and was also a rural community . In addition to Diepoltsreuth, the tax district Diepoltsreuth also included the hamlet of Ritzlersreuth and the wastes Schnepfenhof and Schönberg. The Diepoltsreuth tax district had a total of 190 residents and 19 residential buildings.

The village of Schönberg had 21 inhabitants and 2 residential buildings in 1817, 9 inhabitants in 1861 and 6 inhabitants and 2 residential buildings in 1961. In 1946 Diepoltsreuth and with it Schönberg were incorporated into Gailertsreuth.

The immediate rural community of Gailertsreuth initially consisted of the hamlets of Gailertsreuth, Niedernfloß and Oberndorf, the deserted Gollwitzerhof, Meierhof and Würnreuth. From 1946 the community of Diepoltsreuth was added with the hamlets of Diepoltsreuth and Ritzlersreuth and the wastelands Schnepfenhof and Schönberg.

On January 1, 1972, the community of Gailertsreuth and thus also Schönberg was incorporated into the Floß market.
