Grafenreuth is part of the Floß market in the Upper Palatinate district in the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district .

Geographical location

Grafenreuth is about four kilometers south of Floß on State Road 2181 . The Sandbach rises on the eastern edge of Grafenreuth and flows into the Luhe between Albersrieth and Erpetshof .

history

13th and 14th centuries

Grafenreuth (also: Graefenreut, Grefenreut, Grauenreuth, Graffenreuth, Grauenreut, Graffenreut, Graefenreuth) was listed in the Lower Bavarian Salbuch . Grafenreuth had 5 farms at that time. Its residents had to pay 7 mutt wheat, 9 1/2 mutt grain (rye), 45 mutt oats, 5 mutt hops and 3 pigs a year. Ch. Lenguelder was named as the owner of two farms in Grafenreuth. This book of sages dates from between 1269 and 1320.

The following localities belonging to Floß were named in this directory: Bergnetsreuth, Boxdorf, Diepoltsreuth, Ellenbach, Gösen, Grafenreuth, Hardt, Haupertsreuth, Kalmreuth, Niedernfloß, Oberndorf, Pauschendorf, Ritzlersreuth, Schlattein, Schönberg, Weikersmühle, Welsenhof, Würnreuth, Würzelbrunn.

Grafenreuth was also mentioned in the Bohemian Salbüchlein . It paid 7 1/2 mutt grain, 1 mutt wheat and 10 mutt oat tax per year. Marsch Dreswitzer was named as the owner of two farms with a tax of 2 mutt wheat, 10 mutt oats, 2 mutt hops, 2 pigs, 16 cheese. The Böhmisches Salbüchlein contained records from the period from 1366 to 1373 for all the places that were mentioned in the Lower Bavarian Salbuch cited above and also Plankenhammer as hamer zu Mekenhofen .

15th and 16th centuries

Grafenreuth is recorded in the Salbuch from 1416/1440. Thobias der Waldauwer owned two farms in Grafenreuth. The following 5 farming families in Grafenreuth were named: Hannß Prunner, Michel, Meingott, Friderich, Pogner. Three farmers had to provide Nachzill . As flocking services , they had to plow, back wood, fertilize and manure when asked. The taxes for all 5 farms together amounted to 4 mutt 3 eight liters of grain, 15 mutt 3 eight liters of oats, 1 mutt wheat, 24 cheese, 120 eggs, 1/2 nepf oil, 3 chickens, 2 pigs, 4 eight liters of hops. Cash had to be paid by the 5 farmers together at Walburgi and at Michel's day 2 pounds, 7 shillings each.

The following five teams were recorded for Grafenreuth: Christoff Crapf, Martin Rüdell, Michell Eysmann, Ulrich Stahel, Enndres Ecker.

17th century

During the Thirty Years' War in 1620 and 1621 the Mansfeld soldiers marched through Grafenreuth. They robbed the farmers of money, cattle, grain, food, clothing, linen, beds, copper pans and pots, tools, weapons, etc., fished the ponds, and burned and destroyed the farms. A list of damages for Grafenreuth from 1621 showed a total of 870 guilders and 11 cruisers.

In 1650 the hereditary homage to Count Palatinate of Palatinate-Sulzbach Christian August took place in the courtyard of the Friedrichsburg in Vohenstrauss . Grafenreuth appears on the tribute list with the 5 farm owners: Hannß Krapff, Jobst Riedhl, Hannß Eyßmann, Simon Gollwitzer, Christoph Rietl.

In 1652 Grafenreut is described with 3 courtyards and 2 half courtyards. Its inhabitants at that time were 3 married couples, 1 widower, 2 unmarried brothers, 11 children. The cattle consisted of 14 oxen, 11 cows, 11 young cattle, 7 pigs and 2 sheep.

18th century to the present

A description of the Princely Nursing Office Floßerbürg from 1704 recorded 5 teams, 5 farms for Grafenreuth.

In a historical-statistical description of the Floß maintenance office from 1794, 5 farmers, 1 shepherd, a total of 45 inhabitants were listed for Grafenreuth.

Around 1800 Grafenreuth had 6 houses and 40 residents.

At the beginning of the 19th century, Grafenreuth became a tax district and a rural community at the same time . In addition to Grafenreuth, the hamlets of Diebersreuth, Höfen and Steinfrankenreuth also belonged to the Grafenreuth tax district. The Grafenreuth tax district had a total of 139 residents and 18 residential buildings.

The village of Grafenreuth had 46 inhabitants and 6 residential buildings in 1817, 50 inhabitants in 1861 and 45 inhabitants and 7 residential buildings in 1961.

From the end of June 1943 to the 20th / 21st In April 1945 (before the end of the Second World War ) there was a subcamp of the Flossenbürg concentration camp , whose 150 prisoners had to do forced labor for the SS .

On January 1, 1972, the Grafenreuth community was incorporated into the Floß market.
