The ending -rieth of the place name Albersrieth indicates an early development of the place before the 13th century. The places with the place names ending in -reuth, -rieth, -ried, -richt (earlier spellings: -riut, -rivt, -rewt, derived from "clearing", "clearing") emerged in connection with the first settlement of the area by clearing the dense forest. Places with such names occur very often in the area of ​​the rivers Pfreimd and Luhe and the adjacent streams. These were the starting point for the settlement of the region.

The name Albersrieth (also: Albersreuth, Albretsriut) indicates a clearing among the noble free to Rackendorf, whose relatives often carried the name Albert. Representatives of this family were Adalbert de Rakindorf (1150), Albero et Poppo frater eius de Rakendorf (1160), Adalbero de Rakendorf (1166), Alber de Rakkendorf (1183). Rakkendorf - today Roggenstein - was the seat of the noble free in Rackendorf as early as the 12th century. These were vassals of the Counts of Sulzbach. Albersrieth was first mentioned in writing in 1196. The Ministeriale Metfridus of the later Landgrave Diepold I handed Albersrieth over to the Waldsassen monastery before 1196.

In the 13th century owned Waldauer the bailiwick of the substance which waldsassen abbey in Albert Rieth. In 1276, Berthold von Waldau renounced his claims to the Albersrieth bailiwick. His brother Konrad von Tännesberg bequeathed the Bailiwick of Albersrieth to the Waldsassen monastery in his will. Friedrich von Waldau - another brother of Konrad - and his son Heinrich also gave away their claims to the Bailiwick of Albersrieth to the Waldsassen monastery in 1279.

In 1352 the Landgraves von Leuchtenberg bought Ulrich II and Johann I Albertsrieth from the Waldsassen Abbey . They added the village of Pleystein to their rule.

In 1452 Albertsried paid a tithe to the church in Michldorf . This church in Michldorf was consecrated by Bishop Otto von Bamberg in 1124 at the request of Gebhard I von Leuchtenberg. Their patron saint was St. Ulrich.

In an interest register from 1454 Albersrieth is listed with 10 persons liable for interest, 5 farms and 1 fiefdom.

In the second half of the 16th century Albersrieth was a village with 12 properties including 1 shepherd's house. In Albersrieth, the parish of Lennesrieth, the parish of Michldorf and the Pleystein nursing office had rights to toe.

In 1596 Albertsrieth belonged to the Pleystein lordship and the Pleystein nursing office.

In 1805 Albersrieth belonged to the 1st quarter of the Pleystein nursing office. Albersrieth was the seat of the quarter master at that time.

In the second half of the 18th century Albersrieth belonged to the Pleystein Nursing Office and was subject to the high and low jurisdiction of the Pleystein manor. At that time Albersrieth had 14 properties, 1 shepherd's house and 1 forge. It belonged to the parish of Waldthurn.

In 1808 tax districts were formed. Albersrieth belonged to the Lennesrieth tax district. The tax district Lennesrieth consisted of the villages Lennesrieth, Albersrieth, Frankenrieth and the desert areas of Fitzmühl, Lindnermühl, Buch, Kühbachhof and Grubmühle.

In 1821 the community of Albersrieth was formed. It included Albersrieth with 16 families, Lindnermühle with one family and Fitzmühl with one family.

In 1830 the municipality of Albersrieth was incorporated into the municipality of Lennesrieth. The municipality of Lennesrieth consisted of the villages Lennesrieth, Albersrieth, Frankenrieth, Ottenrieth and the wastes Brunnhof, Fitzmühl, Lindnermühl, Buch, Kühbachhof.

On January 1, 1972, the community of Lennesrieth and thus also Albersrieth was incorporated into the Waldthurn market.
