Werner Schlimme

Werner Schlimme (born August 8, 1924 in Freden (Leine) , † August 12, 2010 in Wolfsburg ) was a German CDU politician and Lord Mayor of Wolfsburg.

Schlimme was a trained butcher and later director of studies at a vocational school. He was honorary president of the Wolfsburg Choir Association and VfL Wolfsburg .

For many years he was a councilor, from 1986 to 1996 mayor of the city of Wolfsburg and was made an honorary citizen in 1996. In 1990 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.

In November 2019 , a street (Werner-Schlimme-Strasse) was named after him in the "An der Gärtnerei" building area in Ehmen , a district of Wolfsburg.
