Werner Smoydzin

Werner Smoydzin (born January 6, 1925 in Nikolaiken , East Prussia; † July 13, 2016 in Hamburg ) was a German lawyer and Vice President of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution .

Smoydzin became a member of the NSDAP in 1943 . After studying law and political science at the Universities of Kiel and Bonn, Smoydzin passed the first state examination in law in 1952, followed by the major state examination in Düsseldorf in 1956. As early as 1952 he was a consultant in the federal office of the Federation of Expellees . In August 1956 he joined the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution. From September 1970 to April 1972 he was its vice-president. From May 1972 Smoydzin headed the Public Security Department in the Federal Ministry of the Interior . He was a member of the FDP .
