Bramont Montadora Industrial e Comercial de Veículos Ltda. , previously Cross Lander do Brasil , Cross Lander Indústria e Comércio Ltda. and Bramont Montadora Industrial e Comercial SA , is a Brazilian manufacturer of motor vehicles .

Company history

The company Cross Lander do Brasil was established in 2002 São Paulo founded. Two sources name the people John Pérez and Julio Ive Albertoni. In the same year the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Cross Lander . The production plant was located in a free trade zone in Manaus .

In 2003 or 2004 the name was changed to Cross Lander Indústria e Comércio Ltda.

In 2005 it became Bramont Montadora Industrial e Comercial SA based in Manaus. In the same year there were negotiations with Mahindra & Mahindra Limited from India . As a result, the brand name Cross Lander was given up and the new brand Cross Ranger was announced. The company itself used the spellings Cross Ranger and CrossRanger . Production of these models ended around 2006.

From August 2007 to May 2015, vehicles were built under license from Mahindra. In addition tractors manufactured by Mahindra.

Production numbers

The planned production figures of 800 vehicles in 2002, 3000 vehicles in 2003 and 5000 vehicles in 2004 were far too high. About half of the vehicles were to be exported to the USA .

One source states that ten vehicles were built in 2002 and 200 vehicles in the following year. Another source confirms around 200 vehicles for 2003. Another source names 72 vehicles for 2002 and 200 vehicles in total. A state source knows vehicles built between 2001 and 2005.

Less than 4,000 of the Mahindra automobiles were made.

Cross Lander

The vehicles were based on the off-road vehicles from ARO from Romania . ARO supplied chassis and bodies . The diesel engine with a displacement of 2800 cm³ produced 132 hp with the help of a turbocharger . The engine came from International . One source states that there was a choice between rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive .

The first model, the CL-244, was a station wagon . The CL-330 pick-up was presented at the end of 2002, but did not go into production until 2004.

Cross ranger

The Cross Ranger models were announced as nova linha 2006 , translated as New Line 2006 . The company itself now gave the model names with CR-244 and CR-330 .

Mahindra

Off-road vehicles and pick-ups licensed by Mahindra were on offer.
