Ragge Indústria e Comércio Ltda. , previously Ragge Industrial Ltda. , was a Brazilian manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company started producing automobiles and kit cars in Rio de Janeiro in 1986 . The designer was Júlio Silla, who previously designed the Tangier at Tanger Industrial . The brand name was Ragge . Around 200 copies were sold in the first half of the year. In 1990 the company was renamed and moved to Duque de Caxias . Production ended before 1995.

Multi-purpose vehicles were on offer. The first model was based on the chassis from the VW Brasília, which had been shortened by 25 cm . A fiberglass body was mounted on top. Behind the front seats was either an open loading area (on the pick-up ) or a fixed structure that could be easily removed. The spare wheel was attached to the outside of the rear. The windshield came from the Chevrolet Chevette , the taillights from the Fiat Prêmio and the door handles from FNM . An air-cooled four - cylinder boxer engine in the rear drove the rear wheels.

In 1987 the revised California model followed . It was replaced in 1990 by the California with a longer wheelbase .
