Ford Motor Company Brasil Ltda. - Divisão Troller , previously Troller Veículos Especiais , is a Brazilian manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Rogério Farias founded the company Troller Veículos Especiais in Horizonte in the state of Ceará . 1993 is named as the year of foundation. He started developing automobiles in 1994. Troler was initially intended as the brand name . After Mário Araripe joined the company in 1997, series production began. The brand name is Troller .

In July 2004, 30 vehicles were exported to Angola . There were plans for production in Benguela there , although it remains unclear whether Troller vehicles were actually assembled in Angola.

In 2007 Ford do Brasil took over the company and has been running it since then as Ford Motor Company Brasil - Divisão Troller .

Production numbers

44 prototypes were made between 1994 and 1997 . In 2000 the company produced 500 vehicles and 727 in the following year. 1,031 vehicles were delivered for 2002 and 920 vehicles for 2003. Around 1200 vehicles were built in 2005. In 2007 the company produced 1,165 vehicles and in the following year 1,077 vehicles.

Off-road vehicles are on offer . The first model was a two-door station wagon with five seats. The body was made of plastic . Initially, the vehicles were powered by a gasoline engine from Volkswagen do Brasil with a capacity of 2000 cm³ and an output of 114  hp . The company states, however, that the engine initially had a displacement of 1800 cm³ and only had a displacement of 2000 cm³ from the following year. A revised version followed in 1998, which was called T 4 from 1999 onwards . The next revision in 2000 added a diesel engine from MWM with a displacement of 2800 cm³ and 114 hp to the range. The petrol engine was removed from the range a year later. From 2003 the diesel engine developed 97 kW / 132 PS. In 2005 a diesel engine with common rail injection , 3000 cm³ displacement and 119 kW / 162 PS replaced the previous engine.

In April 2003 the military version T 4-M and in 2004 the pick-up Pantanal were added. The pick-up was discontinued in 2007.

In 2012 the company presented the prototype TR-X at an automobile exhibition . On this basis, a new T 4 appeared in 2014 . Compared to the previous model, it has a 17 cm longer wheelbase and is 15 cm longer. The five-cylinder - turbo diesel engine with 3198 cc displacement and 147 kW / 200 hp comes from the Ford Ranger .

Rally operations

Four T 5 vehicles took part in the Dakar Rally in 2000 . They had a V6 engine from Ford with 4000 cc and 162 hp.
