Decorauto was a Brazilian manufacturer of automobiles based in Recife .

Company history

The company started producing automobiles in 1979. The brand name was Decorauto . After 1982 production was relocated to another plant in São Paulo . Production ended at the end of the decade.

vehicles

The first Centauro model was a coupe based on the Ford Maverick . The body was made of fiberglass . A V8 engine powered the vehicles. In 1982 the model was revised. The headlights now came from the Fiat 147 . Smaller four- and six-cylinder engines of Chevrolet were now also available. Around 50 vehicles of this model were built by 1985.

This was followed by the Lince convertible . The basis was the Chevrolet Opala . However, the wheelbase was shortened by 20 cm and the rear overhang by a further 15 cm. The headlights came from the VW Passat and the taillights from the Ford Corcel .
