Dankar Indústria e Comércio de Veículos Ltda. was a Brazilian manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company from Rio de Janeiro started producing automobiles in 1978. The brand name was Dankar . Production ended in 1984.

vehicles

Initially, individual sports cars were created based on the VW Brasília .

At the end of 1979 the Squalo was presented. A central tubular frame formed the basis. A two-seater body made of plastic was mounted on top. At first there was only a coupé , later also a version with a Targa roof . The vehicles were powered by a four-cylinder engine from the VW Passat with a displacement of 1600 cm³ . It was mounted behind the seats in a mid-engine design. Fewer than 36 vehicles were made from this model, two of which were exported.

In December 1981 the Julia sedan was added. This was a conversion of the VW Passat.
