Company history

The Rio de Janeiro company manufactured automobiles and kit cars during the 1980s . The brand name was Bug Rio .

The Sport LC appeared in 1983 . This was a mixture of a sports car and a VW buggy . A chassis from Volkswagen do Brasil formed the basis. An air-cooled four - cylinder boxer engine was mounted in the rear and drove the rear wheels. The body had no doors. The windshield came from the Chevrolet Chevette (in Europe Opel Kadett C ), the headlights from the VW Passat and the taillights from the VW Brasília .

An advertisement from 1984 and the production period around the mid-1980s have been handed down for a common VW buggy. Its body was made of fiberglass . It had round headlights on the front of the vehicle.
