Cooper was a Brazilian car brand.

Brand history

The company Pimenta Indústria e Comércio de Veículo em Fiberglass from Rio de Janeiro started producing automobiles and kit cars in 1983 . The brand name was Cooper .

Gerbauto later continued production from the same location. It is not known when production ended.

The only model was a VW buggy . The basis was a chassis from Volkswagen do Brasil , which was shortened considerably to 154 cm. An open two-seater body made of fiberglass was mounted on top. The vehicle was 253 cm long, 155 cm wide and weighed 457 kg. Various air-cooled four - cylinder boxer engines from VW with a capacity of 1300 cm³ and a capacity of 1600 cm³ powered the vehicles.

Other manufacturers such as Britz copied the concept of the extremely short VW buggy.
