Moldex Indústria e Comércio Ltda. was a Brazilian manufacturer of automobiles and boats .

Company history

The company from São Paulo initially dealt with boats and fiberglass . At the end of 1961 a prototype was presented at an automobile exhibition, and a revised version in the following year. Production began in April 1964. The brand name was Moldex , with some sources claiming that the model name MB was also the brand name. In total, fewer than ten vehicles were built. In 1966 the company only exhibited boats.

The only model was the MB , short for Mecânica Brasileira . The designer was Roberto Eugenio Stieler. A chassis from Vemag , which manufactured the DKW under license , formed the basis. An open body made of fiberglass was mounted on top. The cabriolet had four seats. One source sees a similarity to Fiat 1200 Spider and Fiat 1500 Spider . A three - cylinder two-stroke engine powered the vehicles. The curb weight is said to have been 150 kg below that of the original vehicle.
