Indústria de Carrocerias Bugre Ltda. is a Brazilian manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
Francisco Cavalcanti founded the company in Rio de Janeiro in 1970 . He started producing automobiles and kit cars . The brand name is Bugre . The assembly was initially carried out in part by Montadora Nacional de Automóveis . In 2005 the company moved from the Bonsucesso district to Rio Bonito. Annual production was around 720 vehicles in the 1980s, around 150 vehicles in the 2000s and around 144 vehicles in the 2010s. In total, more than 9,000 vehicles have been built so far, some of which have also been exported.

VW buggies are on offer . The first Bugre model was based on the shortened chassis from the VW Beetle . Around 180 of these vehicles were built by 1972.
The subsequent Bugre II was visually similar.
The 1971 SS had a more sporty design and found around 100 buyers in two years.
From M 150 around 970 vehicles emerged in ten years.
In 1977 the Bugre III came onto the market.
The FC-15 Safari was a jeep- style vehicle , but with two-wheel drive. A ladder frame formed the basis. The four - cylinder boxer engine from Volkswagen was also mounted here in the rear. A front-engined prototype was abandoned after the death of Francisco Cavalcanti. Later this model was simply called the FC-15 .
In 1980 the Bugre IV replaced the Bugre III .
In 1983 the Bugre V came on the market.
In 2007, work began on a successor to the Bugre V , which was presented in January 2008 as the Bugre II .
In 2016, the offer consisted of Bugre IV and Bugre VII .
