Tako was a Brazilian car brand.

Brand history

A company from Curitiba started producing automobiles in the second half of the 1980s . The brand name was Tako , after its designer Tadeu Kowalski. Around 20 vehicles were built by 1990. Then the project was handed over to another company, revised and offered for a short time.

The vehicles were sporty VW buggies . No specific model name has survived for the first version from 1986. The open body was made of fiberglass . The B-pillars were inclined backwards and connected to one another by a roll bar . The windshield was also tilted back. There were square headlights on the front of the vehicle. An air-cooled four - cylinder boxer engine in the rear drove the rear wheels.

The revised version of Safari had a shorter wheelbase . The B-pillars were wider in the lower area and tapered towards the top. Headlights and taillights were also changed. The running boards were unusual .
