Almenara was a Brazilian car brand.

Brand history

Anuar Checker founded the company in Itaúna in 1983 and began producing automobiles . The brand name was Almenara . Production ended in 1988. A total of 17 vehicles were built.

Only one model was on offer. Visually, it was a mixture of a sports car of Puma and a VW Buggy . The chassis of the VW Beetle formed the basis. An open, doorless body was mounted on it. Various air-cooled four - cylinder boxer engines with a capacity of 1600 cm³ and water-cooled four - cylinder in- line engines from the VW Passat with a capacity of 1500 cm³ and 1600 cm³ were mounted in the rear and powered the rear wheels.
