Toy Veículos e Carrocerias Ltda. was a Brazilian manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The Rio de Janeiro company started producing automobiles and kit cars in 1981 . The brand name was Toy . 500 copies were already sold in the first year. Production ended at the end of the decade.

The offer included two VW buggies . The basis was either a chassis from Volkswagen do Brasil or a self-made tubular frame. An open, doorless body made of fiberglass was mounted on top. There was a roll-over device behind the front seats . An air-cooled four - cylinder boxer engine in the rear drove the rear wheels.

In one model, the angular headlights were mounted below the fenders . A kind of awning, which was stretched between the windshield and the roll bar, served as rain protection . The other model had headlights that were integrated into the front of the vehicle, as well as a real hood. The side skirts were also different.
