Werner Sonne
Werner Sonne (born May 4, 1947 in Morscheid-Riedenburg ) is a German journalist and writer .
Professional career
Sonne began his journalistic training at Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger , where he completed his internship . Sonne gained further professional experience at the UPI news agency in Bonn . In 1968 he switched to the radio division of West German Broadcasting and became a reporter for the "Current Department" and reported as a correspondent from the studios in Bonn and Washington .
In 1981 he came to the television division of WDR. There he performed several tasks. Among other things, he was special correspondent for “ARD aktuell” in Hamburg, and deputy editor-in-chief of the state programs on WDR television. As a foreign correspondent and studio manager, he reported from Bonn, Washington and Warsaw . In addition, Werner Sonne was the host of the program “Focus” on the ARD / ZDF information channel Phoenix .
In 1999 he became a TV correspondent for the ARD capital studio in Berlin.
In July 2004, Sonne became a correspondent for the ARD morning magazine . On June 8, 2012, Sonne retired in the ARD morning magazine. Christiane Meier was the successor in this position .
Werner Sonne has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the European Society for Young Academics since August 2009 .
In addition to his journalistic activities, Werner Sonne played in Wolfgang Menges Das Millionenspiel in 1970 , a small role in Wolfgang Menges and Wolfgang Petersen's film Smog in 1973 , and in Petersen's Air Force One in 1997 .
Personal
Werner Sonne is Catholic , married and has one son. He attended the Freiherr-vom-Stein-Gymnasium in Leverkusen . On March 19, 2010, he gave the keynote address for the school's 50th birthday.
