Werner Sonnenschein (sports scientist)

Werner Sonnenschein (born June 4, 1942 in Haan , Rhineland; † December 20, 2017 ) was a German sports scientist and head of the International Office of the German Sport University Cologne .

Life

In 1962, Sonnenschein graduated from the Helmholtz-Gymnasium Hilden . He then studied sport and English at the universities of Bonn and Munich as well as in Eugene , Oregon / USA . In 1966 he made the Bachelor of Arts, then in 1969 the 1st state examination.

• 1983–1990 he was Secretary General of the ICSSPE (see below).
• 1991–1998 he worked at the Institute for Sports Sociology.
• 1993-2007 European Sport Studies
• 1996–2007 he was head of the international office at the DSHS Cologne

In recognition of his services, Sonnenschein was awarded the “Bronze Medal” of the German Sport University on June 28, 2007 when he left.
