Werner Spitteler (politician)
Werner Spitteler (born February 22, 1940 - † October 15, 2019 ; resident in Bennwil ) was a Swiss politician ( SVP ).
Live and act
Spitteler grew up in Bennwil and attended school in Waldenburg . He trained as a farmer at the Ebenrain Agricultural School in Sissach .
He began his political career in the Bennwil municipal council . Spitteler was a member of the government council of the canton of Basel-Landschaft from 1982 to 1994 and headed the economics and health department. In 1986/87, 1989/90 and 1993/94 he was the district president.
Spitteler lived in Bennwil during his tenure. He then lived in Tanzania , most recently back in Switzerland.
He had five children from his first marriage. Most recently he was married to a Tanzanian woman. Spitteler died after a long illness.
