Werner Stumper

Werner Stumper (born August 11, 1927 in Bremerhaven ; † May 24, 2010 in Villingen-Schwenningen ) was a German painter and graphic artist.

Life

From 1946 to 1949 he completed an apprenticeship as a painter with a journeyman's examination, and from 1949 to 1952 he studied at the Bremen State Art School , under Professor Heckroth, Professor Menz . In the 1950s he worked as a freelance artist. Stumper lived in Villingen-Schwenningen from 1955. His working techniques included linocut prints, monotypes, watercolors and pen drawings, as well as oil-chalk painting and classic oil painting.

From 1960 to 1987, Stumper was a member of the Villingen-Schwenningen Art Association and is also a member of the Donaueschingen Artists' Guild.

In the 1950s, Werner Stumper worked as a decorative normal at Schaller, Porzellan. During this time he also designed porcelain decorations for the Rosenthal company.

In 1993 he illustrated the volume of poetry by the Low German poet Friedrich Freudenthal from the Soltauer Schriften series, Volume 2 "From Lust and Leed" with linocut prints from his workshop and in 1995 the cover picture for Volume 4 of the Soltauer Schriften. During this time, he also wrote short stories, including "Anna Kaiser memories after 50 years"; Poems in Low German followed.
