Werner Uhl (born November 29, 1953 in Lich ) is a German chemist who is Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Münster .

Life

After graduating from high school in Hungen, Uhl studied chemistry at the TH Karlsruhe from 1972 with his diploma in 1976 under Gerd Becker and his doctorate in Karlsruhe in 1980 [studies on the stability of ( E ) - and ( Z ) -isomeric alkylidene phosphanes]. He then worked at Nukem in Hanau and from 1983 at the University of Stuttgart , where he completed his habilitation in 1989. In 1992 he became professor at the University of Oldenburg , in 1999 in Marburg and in 2004 in Münster.

He succeeded in the synthesis of new organometallic compounds with single bonds between two aluminum, gallium and indium atoms and macrocyclic compounds made from them. Furthermore, he deals with the synthesis of aluminum hydrazides, clusters of aluminum, gallium and indium atoms, hydroalumination and polyhedral carbaalanes (polyhedral clusters of aluminum and carbon atoms similar to carboranes ).

In 2012 he received the Alfred Stock Memorial Prize . He received two awards from students in Münster for the best chemistry lecture (Goldener Brendel).
