Werner Väth

Werner Väth (born September 9, 1945 in Mittelinn ; † November 19, 2012 in Berlin ) was a German political scientist and university professor.

Life

In Frankish born village Mittelsinn, Werner Väth received his education through high school in Aschaffenburg . From 1964 he studied political science and sociology at the University of Vienna and from 1965 political science at the Berlin Otto Suhr Institute . In 1976 he received his PhD at the University of Konstanz , where he had been a research assistant since 1970. rer. soc. PhD . After serving as a professor, he joined the Free University of Berlin in 1981 as a professor of political science . At the Otto Suhr Institute he represented Gert von Eynern's successor in the field of economic foundations in politics and headed the Politics and Technology department.

In 1988/89 he was Vice Dean and Dean of the Department of Political Science and finally Vice President of the Free University from 1990 to 1999 and again from 2003 for more than 15 years. As vice-president he was responsible for the social sciences and humanities, temporarily headed the budget committee of the board of trustees and the library commission, was responsible for appointment questions and study matters and many other areas.

He found his final resting place in the forest cemetery in Kleinmachnow .
