Werschok
The Werschok ( Russian вершок ; German older also Werschock ) was a Russian measure of length , comparable to the so-called sixteenth of a cubit . Like the arshin , it was legally established in the Russian Empire from 1826 .
- 1 Werschok = 19 7/10 Parisian lines = 44.45 millimeters
- 1 Cheet value = ¼ Arzin = 4 Werschok
- 16 Werschok = 1 arzin (Russian "Elle")
- 48 Werschok = 1 Saschen
- 1 verst / Wersta (Russian "mile") = 500 Saschen (Russian " fathoms ") = 1500 = 24,000 arshin Werschok = 1067 ¾ meters (the older versts corresponded to the 18th century 700 Saschen)
- 1 foot = 6.85 Werschock = 24 Paletz = 135 Paris lines = 0.3045 meters
The measure was also suitable as a small area measure:
- 1 square arzin = 256 square wererschok ≈ 0.5058 square meters
