Werschok

The Werschok ( Russian вершок ; German older also Werschock ) was a Russian measure of length , comparable to the so-called sixteenth of a cubit . Like the arshin , it was legally established in the Russian Empire from 1826 .

  • 1 Werschok = 19 7/10 Parisian lines = 44.45 millimeters
  • 1 Cheet value = ¼ Arzin = 4 Werschok
  • 16 Werschok = 1 arzin (Russian "Elle")
  • 48 Werschok = 1 Saschen
  • 1 verst / Wersta (Russian "mile") = 500 Saschen (Russian " fathoms ") = 1500 = 24,000 arshin Werschok = 1067 ¾ meters (the older versts corresponded to the 18th century 700 Saschen)
