Weser Sprinter
The Weser Sprinter (line number 440 ; spelling also: WeserSprinter ) is a regional bus line in Lower Saxony that connects the major cities of Oldenburg and Bremerhaven , which are seventy kilometers apart . The journey leads from Oldenburg and the Loy motorway junction along the route of the former Braker Bahn , the "rubber railway " on which passenger traffic between Oldenburg and Brake was discontinued as early as 1961. The air-conditioned buses used travel through the wide field landscapes of the Wesermarsch and serve numerous stops in the center of the district town of Brake (Unterweser) .
The southern Oldenburg – Brake line section is served at least every hour. In Brake, the line branches into two branches: both the north-western branch Brake - Nordenham - Blexen , the ferry terminal and the north-eastern branch Brake - Bremerhaven are served alternately every 2 hours. Gebken & Gerdes is entrusted with this line. Since the completion of the Weser Tunnel , Bremerhaven can be reached more quickly. Before that, in 1998/99, there was also a Weser-Sprinter connection between Oldenburg and Bremerhaven, with the buses at that time traveling on the ferry between Blexen and Bremerhaven . Today's terminus in both Oldenburg and Bremerhaven is the respective main train station or the nearby central bus station.
Due to the acceleration of the journey due to the completion of the Weser Tunnel, the journey from Oldenburg to Bremerhaven (or back) takes 95 minutes.
