Bengt Janus

Bengt Janus (full name: Albert Bengt Janus Nielsen ; born April 5, 1921 in Copenhagen , † June 5, 1988 in Nykøbing Sjælland ) was a Danish children's book and crime writer . He wrote under the pseudonyms Jens K. Holm , Peter Sander and Britta Munk .

He was best known through the youth book series " Detective Kim ". Under the pseudonym Britta Munk, he wrote mystery books, which have a main protagonist in Hanne and are aimed at girls.

Life

Bengt Janus was born in Copenhagen and grew up there with his six years older sister Grete. He attended Rådmandsgade School, where his father worked as a teacher.

Between 1953 and 1959 he wrote 15 “Hanne” books under the pseudonym Britta Munk, of which only the first three were published in German. From 1957 to 1973 he published the crime series " Detective Kim " as Jens K. Holm .

Under the pseudonym Peter Sander, his crime novel “Tod bei Tisch” was published in 1962 and was filmed in 1964 by Erik Balling .

In 1965 and 1966 Bengt Janus wrote the scripts for the feature films Kaliber 7.65 - Thieves Greetings from Copenhagen and Slap af, Frede! Together with Erik Balling and Henning Bahs . .

In addition to his work as a writer, Bengt Janus worked as a translator of Swedish and English books into the Danish language, including the entire Black Seven series by Enid Blyton .

Bengt Janus was married; however, the marriage ended in divorce with no children in the early 1970s. He died on June 5, 1988 at the age of 67.
