Wesley Swift

Wesley Swift (* 1913 in New Jersey ; † 1970 ) was a leader in the Christian Identity movement .

Life

Wesley Swift was born the son of a United States Methodist minister. At the age of 17 he turned to evangelicalism . He was allowed to preach in a Methodist church. He went to Los Angeles and studied at Kingdom Bible College . In Lancaster , he started his own church and was anxious to revitalize the Ku Klux Klan in southern California . He was a supporter of Joseph McCarthy during the McCarthy era and has been associated with various paramilitary organizations. Swift is believed to be a co-founder of the Christian Defense League , an extremist group in North America. He was considered a compelling speaker and companion of Gerald LK Smith. Swift made the Christian Identity movement popular by combining Anglo-Israelism , anti-Semitism and extremist political ideologies.
