West Bekaa District
The West Bekaa District ( Arabic قضاء البقاع الغربي, DMG Qaḍāʾ al-Biqāʿ al-ġarbī , also Beqaa el Gharbi , French Le Caza de la Bekka occidentale ) is an administrative district ( Qaḍāʾ ) in the Bekaa governorate in Lebanon . It consists of 27 villages, the main town is Joub Jenin . The most important city, however, is Mashgara .

The district is located in the southwest of the Bekaa governorate . To the west it borders the Lebanon Mountains with the heights of the Barouk , and to the east the foothills of the Anti-Lebanon form the natural border. The landscape is very flat, but is shaped by the Litani River . There are also numerous sources. The most important of these is Ain Ez Zarqa . An important technical achievement is the Qaraoun reservoir near the place of the same name. The area covers 425 km² (470 km²) and in 2008 had about 56,000 inhabitants (according to localiban.org: 104,000 Ew.).
