WestRock is an American cardboard and packaging manufacturer . It was created in 2015 with the merger of RockTenn and MeadWestvaco (MWV).

WestRock produces 12.3 million tons of cardboard per year.

history

RockTenn was formed in 1973 through the merger of Tennessee Paper Mills and Rock City Packaging . MeadWestvaco was founded in 2002 when Mead Corporation and Westvaco (originally Piedmont Pulp and Paper Company ) merged. In summer 2017, the packaging manufacturer Multi Packaging Solutions was taken over. In 2018, the company's headquarters were relocated from Richmond to Atlanta. In the same year the German company Schlüter Print Pharma Packaging was taken over.

WestRock in Germany

WestRock Germany is based in Trier. There is also a production site there. With the takeover of Multi Packaging Solutions, three more production locations were taken over in Germany: Kreuzau-Stockheim , Melle and Obersulm . The Schönebeck site of Schlüter Print Pharma Packaging has been owned by Westrock since 2018.
