West Economy

West Economy is a (former) location on the Ohio River in Beaver County , Pennsylvania , opposite the settlement Economy . It is now on the border of the city of Aliquippa and the Hopewell Township .

Between West Economy and Economy (later part of Ambridge ) a ferry used to run across the Ohio. The Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad opened a station of the same name in West Economy in 1896 at the latest . The Woodlawn and Southern Street Railway Company , opened in 1912, connected the site with the steel mill in what was then Woodlawn . In 1926 a road bridge was built over the Ohio between West Economy and Ambridge, which replaced the ferry service and is still in use today.
