Depot and parking spaces

The depot is located at the port of Münster on Rösnerstrasse. Vehicles that circulate in the Münster area and the surrounding area are parked on the square of Stadtwerke Münster . Due to the large catchment area, the vehicles are also parked in Coesfeld, Borken, Warendorf, Burgsteinfurt, Velen and at other train stations.

history

The beginnings

The beginnings of bus traffic in Westphalia go back to the end of the 19th century. In particular, the postal buses of the Reichspost , which started running from 1905, ensured an upswing in passenger traffic; from the 1920s they served many places in what was then the province of Westphalia . From 1927, the Reichsbahn also used express buses on the motorways.

Merger of postal service and rail bus

In the 1970s there was increased discussion that previously independently operating bus services by rail and mail merge. After it was decided that the Deutsche Bundesbahn offered better conditions for a joint federal bus service, the independent Bahnbus business units (GBB) were founded in 1982 and 1983 . The Bahnbus Westfalen business area was selected as one of four pilot regions; the seat was in Munster.

WB Westfalen Bus GmbH

Towards the end of the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s, the previously public companies were converted into a company form under commercial law. After this step had proven itself in the pilot companies Autokraft , Regionalverkehr Hannover , Regionalverkehr Köln and Regionalverkehr Oberbayern , this conversion should also be carried out for the other Bahnbus business units. The transformation of the Bahnbus Westfalen division and the renaming to WB Westfalen Bus GmbH took place on October 1st, 1989. For financial reasons, further subsidiaries were founded, such as BRS Busverkehr Ruhr-Sieg GmbH . WB and BRS appear on the market under the common name DB Bahn Westfalenbus , since 2016 under DB Westfalenbus .
