Westward Ho! is a seaside resort on the north coast of the county of Devon in south-west England. The town, located near Barnstaple and Bideford in Parish Northam , has a population of about 8,440.

Surname

The official and internationally recognized spelling actually includes the exclamation mark and was based on the title of a novel by Charles Kingsley . The only other place name that includes exclamation marks is Saint-Louis-du-Ha! Ha! in Canada .

Rail transport

Westward Ho! was on Bideford, Westward Ho! and Appledore Railway , a railway line that was completed in 1908 and closed again in 1917 after its locomotives were drafted for military service.
