from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Whale tail
Tail fin of a humpback whale ("arrow" down)

Whale Tail , German "whale tail " ( Fluke ) is the name for a thong or string that protrudes beyond the waistband of the trousers , shorts or skirt and resembles a tail fin of a whale standing out of the water . The immediately below lying coccyx is called in English tail bone (literal translation: "tail bone").

The word was created by the American Dialect Society (a learned society ) in January 2006 voted "most creative word" of 2005. The term finds its way into the German-speaking world via websites with pictures and blogs . The T-shape and the local proximity result in similarities with the ass antler tattoo.
