The Whalers Bay (English for Whaler's Bay , French Anse des Baleiniers ) is a bay of Deception Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located between Fildes Point and Penfold Point on the east side of Port Foster .
The French polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot named them during the Fifth French Antarctic Expedition (1908-1910). At that time the bay was a popular anchorage for whaling ships.
