White Winged Horse is a short film by Mahyar Mandegar , which was shown from February 22, 2020 as part of the Berlin International Film Festival . The film tells the story of a man who returns to his Iranian hometown, which was destroyed in the war 20 years ago. He goes in search of his childhood friend. She promised him eternal love should he one day return as a white-winged horse.

It was directed by Mahyar Mandegar , who also wrote the script. Born in Tehran in 1996, the director studied at the Tehran University of Art and began his career as an editor of short films such as Staircase , which was selected for the 2018 Venice Film Festival. For his first short film Blue Sky, Clean Earth , Mandegar received the Asian Student Film Award at the Beijing Film Academy's International Student Film and Video Festival. He also took part in an exchange program with the Babelsberg Film University Konrad Wolf , which resulted in the documentary Margarina Bailarina .
The music was composed by Salar M. Asghari . Soroush Alizadeh acted as cameraman, Faraz Modiri was responsible for the production design, and Asma Ahmadi for the costumes. Babak Kashanfallah was responsible for the mask.
From February 22, 2020, the film was presented in the Generation 14plus section of the Berlin International Film Festival , where it received an honorable mention. The reason stated: “This film uses the imagination of its audience to create an extraordinary world. He follows an unusual protagonist who nonetheless evokes strong emotions. When fantasy finally merges with reality, it feels like we can fly away with the white winged horse. "
