Wichard von Wilamowitz-Moellendorff the Elder

Wichard Hugo Friedrich Wilhelm Graf von Wilamowitz-Moellendorff (born January 20, 1835 at Gadow Castle ; † February 13, 1905 there ) was a German officer, Fideikommissherr and parliamentarian.

His parents were Count Hugo Friedrich Erdmann von Wilamowitz-Moellendorff (born December 29, 1806 - June 14, 1865) and his wife, Countess Aurora Marie von Wartensleben (born October 11, 1808).

Wichard von Wilamowitz-Möllendorff studied at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . In 1855 he became a member of the Corps Saxo-Borussia Heidelberg . He became a major in the Prussian Army and Fideikommissherr on Gadow. From 1865 he designed the landscape park of Schloss Gadow by planting in particular Douglas firs, conifers and rhododendrons into one of the most species-rich landscape gardens in Brandenburg.

From 1868 to 1870 he was a member of the constituency of Potsdam 1 (West and East Prignitz) in the Prussian House of Representatives . He belonged to the faction of the Conservative Party .

He was married to the daughter of State Minister Henning Graf von Bassewitz , Anna Luise Countess von Bassewitz . Fideikommissherr, officer and parliamentarian Wichard von Wilamowitz-Moellendorff the Younger (1871-1916) was his son.
