The village of Widdau belongs to Imgenbroich , a district of Monschau in the Aachen city region, as a residential area .
Village issues are represented by the Imgenbroich mayor in the city council of Monschau.
Parish Widdau belongs to the cath. Parish of St Cornelus in pipes.
Widdau is north of Rohren on a hillside above the Rur valley . With barely eighty inhabitants, it achieved a certain fame through the WDR in the 1980s and 1990s . At that time the cabaret artist Hubert vom Venn reported (fictitiously) once a week from the only telephone booth in the village “Live from the telephone booth in Widdau”.
The bus route 84, Monschau - Höfen - Rohren - Imgenbroich of the BVR , connects the stop "Widdau" with the Monschau districts Imgenbroich , Rohren , Höfen , Heidgen and Monschau-Mitte.
On January 1, 1972, Widdau was incorporated into the city of Monschau as part of Imgenbroich.
Below the development, directly on the Rur, is the Widdau youth camp of the Diocesan Association of Aachen, which is looked after by the German Scouting Association Sankt Georg (DPSG).
