The Widdersteinhütte is a privately run refuge in the Allgäu Alps and is located at an altitude of 2,009 meters on the south side at the foot of the Großer Widderstein . The hut offers space for 28 people in the mattress dormitory .
Ascents
The Widdersteinhütte can be reached via 4 ascents
- from Baad (Kleinwalsertal) through the Bärgundtal over the Hochalppass (walking time 3 hours)
- from Mittelberg (Kleinwalsertal) via the Gemsteltal (walking time 2½ hours)
- from Warth (walking time 1½ hours)
- from the Hochtannbergpass (walking time 1 hour)
Ascent to the summit
- to the summit of the Großer Widderstein (walking time 1½ hours)
Circular hike from Kleinwalsertal
From Mittelberg into the valley over the Sonnhalde to Bödmen and further into the valley and over the Gemstelweg into the Gemsteltal. From there up to the Gemstelpass and on to the Widdersteinhütte. Back to the Kleinwalsertal over the Hochalppass into the Bärgundtal and on to Baad (walking time 5½ hours).
