Wiebke Knell (born October 24, 1981 in Schwalmstadt as Wiebke Reich ) is a German politician ( FDP ). She has been a member of the Hessian state parliament since November 1, 2017 .

Life

In 2001 Knell graduated from the Melanchthon School Steinatal in Willingshausen. By 2008 she completed a degree in political science, law and medieval and modern history at the universities of Gießen , Brest (France) and Mainz , from which she completed an MA in political science . Knell is a Protestant, married and has one child.

Political career

In 1998, at the age of 16, Knell joined the FDP youth organization Junge Liberale . As a student, she joined the FDP in 2000 .

From 2001 to 2006 she was a member of the state board of the Young Liberals of Hesse - among other things as deputy state chairwoman.

Since 2004 she has been deputy chairwoman of the FDP Schwalm-Eder.

Knell was an assessor on the state board of the Hessian FDP from 2005 to 2015. Since 2015 she has been a member of the nine-member presidium of the FDP Hessen .

In the local elections in 2006, Knell was elected to the city council of her hometown Neukirchen (Knüll) and to the district council of the Schwalm-Eder district , to which she has belonged ever since. She also acts as parliamentary group leader in both local parliaments. On November 1, 2017, she replaced Nicola Beer , who had moved into the German Bundestag, as a member of the Hessian state parliament.

In the Hessian state parliament, Knell is a member of the committee for the environment, climate protection, agriculture and consumer protection, the Hessian animal welfare advisory board and the state enterprise Hessen Forst . She is also the spokeswoman for the FDP parliamentary group for the environment, agriculture and consumer protection, for rural areas and for women, equality and diversity. As the youngest member of the parliamentary group, she also acts as a youth policy spokesperson.

In the Hessian state elections in 2018 , she ran for third place on the FDP state list and as a direct candidate in constituency 8 Schwalm-Eder II. She received another mandate in the state parliament through her party's state list. She is the deputy chairwoman of the parliamentary group.
