history

1820 took over Philipp Jakob Wieland the art and bell foundry of his uncle in the Ulmer Rose Lane. From 1828 he specialized in the manufacture of sheet metal and wire, and around 1900 bars, tubes and profiles were also manufactured. In 1865 the company produced in the new plant in Vöhringen , using the water power of the Iller .

In 1919 the OHG became Wieland-Werke AG . The development of new techniques and machines as well as the purchase of further works followed. In 1945 the Ulm plant was largely destroyed by bomb damage. Individual production systems were dismantled in the Vöhringen plant . After the reconstruction, the company expanded its production capacities in the 1950s and 1960s and built up a global production and sales organization. Today the Wieland Group consists of around 60 companies (manufacturing plants, cutting centers and trading companies) in 40 countries.

Philipp Jakob Wieland founded a factory health insurance company in 1834, today's Wieland BKK . He also cared for the families and relatives of his factory workers. He built workers' houses that still exist today on the outskirts of the Vöhringen factory, as well as "hygienic facilities", i.e. H. own bathing establishments with tubs and showers. A day nursery was set up in Ulm around 1900 to counteract the high infant mortality rate. The crib was under the protectorate of Queen Charlotte, and the wife of the manufacturer Max Wieland was on the board of the crib. The European Commission has cleared under the Merger on February 6, 2019, the proposed acquisition of the rolled products division of the German copper producer Aurubis and the joint venture heavy Halbzeugwerk by Wieland prohibited.

In July 2019, the Wieland Group took over the American manufacturer and distributor of specialized non-ferrous products Global Brass and Copper Holdings, Inc.
