The Wiener Bauindustrie-Zeitung (abbreviation: WBIZ) was a newspaper for architects , engineers and construction professionals.

history

The newspaper was founded in 1883 and initially appeared weekly. The editor of the first editions was the engineer Peter Bambach, later by M. Rohaczek and M. Grebner. The newspaper was accompanied by the Vienna Building Album , in which the most beautiful buildings in Vienna were presented in large-format photos and architectural drawings . In 1883 the newspaper was approved as a teaching aid at trade schools. In 1893 the Volkswirtschaftliche Verlag Alexander Dorn took over the paper as editor, the engineer Eduard Hoffmann became the chief editor. In 1899 the engineer and university professor Josef Röttinger took over this function. From 1911 the architect Ferdinand Fellner von Feldegg was responsible for the sheet. In 1913 the regular supplement Der Bauinteressent appeared , in which tenders and "business news" were published. In the same year the publishing house of Buchdruckerei Industrie took over the newspaper. From 1914 the paper was only published monthly.

In 1917 the Wiener Bau-Zeitung was renamed Oesterreichische Bauzeitung and taken over by the Wiener Reisser Verlag. It appeared weekly on Fridays; Ferdinand Fellner von Feldegg became editor-in-chief. In 1920 the publication was stopped.
